For years there were very few choices in the metals you could choose for your wedding bands. You only had gold, platinum or silver to choose from. Over they last few years there has been a surge in the Alternative Metal wedding bands. Now you have Tungsten, Titanium, Cobalt, Stainless Steel, and Ceramic Couture. While having choices are great, most people do not know the benefits and downfalls to each of the new metals. In this post I hope to inform you enough to make the right decision on which of these metals best suits your needs.
Titanium Wedding Bands
Our Titanium wedding bands are 99.9% pure surgical implant quality titanium. Titanium is an extremely lightweight, yet durable metal with a silvery gray color and is hypoallergenic, making it the perfect metal for people with metal allergies. Titanium Wedding Bands are extremely popular with men due to the lightweight feel of the band. Titanium bands are priced very reasonably as well which makes it a perfect choice for young couples and people on a tight budget.
The ideal method for cleaning titanium is with a steamer, but lets face it we do not all have steamers and don't always have time to make it to the local jewelry store just to have our ring cleaned. You can always clean it hot water and a mild soap, such as dish soap, to remove dirt embedded in diamond bezels or between links. If you do take it to your local jewelry store only allow them to use Ultrasonic cleaners on titanium jewelry without gemstones.
While may traditional removal methods do not work for titanium dont get too worried. Go to your local jewelry store. A trained jeweler can use an electric ring cutter to cut the ring at two opposite sides of the ring. Once it is cut on opposite side the ring should just fall off.

Cobalt Wedding Bands
Cobalt is a bio-friendly material commonly used in prosthetics such as hip replacements. This durable metal stays white without re-plating, is extremely scratch resistant and unlike many of the alternative metals Cobalt is sizeable to ¼ size.
While Cobalt is a super durable metal it is sensitive to harsh chemicals. All you really need to do is clean it with a mild soap, such as dish soap, and warm water and gently dry it with a soft cloth. Do NOT expose cobalt to harsh chemicals such as chlorine.
Cobalt is extremely strong. You will need to visit your jeweler to remove a cobalt band with an electric ring cutter or a diamond coated drill. The ring will need to be cut at two opposite sides of the ring to allow the ring to break in two halves.
